The Founder Ryan Taylor
I started Rocky Mountain Odyssey because I wanted to share my love of the Rocky Mountains and the simple uncomplicated lifestyle that I have been blessed to find living in their elevation. I was born and grew up during my early childhood years in a small house on squaw pass road just west of Evergreen, Colorado only a few miles from Echo Lake and Mount Evans (one of Colorado’s fifty-three 14,000 foot peaks – 14’ers). I currently live in Crested Butte, Colorado, a quaint historical coal mining and ranching turned ski town in the upper Gunnison river valley southwest of Denver.
At age 4, my family moved to Fort Worth, Texas where we lived until I was 16 when I left home and moved to Raleigh, North Carolina to play junior hockey in the USPHL, traveling for games from Maine to Florida. During those years away from Colorado, I never lost my passion for the mountains and all that they represent.
By 18 I was finally back in the Colorado Rocky Mountains where I began my professional artistic career. During the summer of 2015 I traveled in a 1985 Volkswagen Vanagon selling my photographs and paintings at various art shows across the state of Colorado. During that time I also started Untraveled Roads, a non-profit corporation using proceeds from art to help others who may be experiencing difficult times.
I am currently attending Western State Colorado University where I’m working to get a business degree with an emphasis in entrepreneurship. Through my love for the mountains and all it’s encompassing beauty I hope to share that same adventurous enjoyment with the rest of the world and encourage them to get out and explore.
